Reliable Service
1. The System
In selecting Nortel's CS2000 IP switch, Rosecom delivers a robust service to its customers. Nortel has a long pedigree in the supply of business communication infrastructure and are global leaders in the design and manufacture of PBXs, fixed and mobile infrastructure and are therefore uniquely placed to deliver convergent solutions.
The Nortel platform provides a service that is unlike most other hosted services in that it is designed for the business market as opposed to residential and is highly reliable and secure. The switch itself has multiple layers of redundancy for power, processing and PSTN interconnection and all equipment is located in a high security data centre. This is a far higher level of security than most businesses can hope to achieve, unless they spend an inordinate amount of money on disaster recovery. For our customers, this is standard. In addition, we offer full service level agreements and an up front technical consultancy service throughout the design phase, to ensure that the installation meets the precise needs of each individual user.
In our opinion, the CS2000 has the best user interface available on the market today. Simple and intuitive, easy and fun to use, it requires a minimum of user training and is an enabler to improved business efficiency.
2. Implementation
Rosecom focuses on four key areas to make sure all of our installations are successful:
1. Design
Rosecom account managers will discuss the customer's precise business needs and compete a full site survey before completing final proposals, which double up as a design document. Only when this has been agreed and signed off by all parties will the installation commence.
This critical phase can involve detailed consultancy with key staff to ensure that the solution is driven by the business and not by IT alone.
2. WAN
Rosecom can supply IP connectivity across a wide range of services, from business broadband for home users to QoS 1:1 ADSL services and then 10/100Mbit Quality of Service (QoS) connection into our MPLS network.
Customers who take advantage of the MPLS service can also benefit from our network based firewall, removing the need for an in-house solution and its associated headaches. Thus all communications come under a single Rosecom SLA.
3. LAN
There are three options here which will be identified during the site survey:
i) Whether the existing switch infrastructure will support QoS or is due for refresh
ii) Whether a secondary LAN for voice should be installed in addition to the existing one
iii) Whether a converged solution, combining voice and data on a single LAN is appropriate.
There are cost implications for each option, so these will be presented in plain English to the customer as part of the design phase.
4. Project Management
A well managed installation is critical to ensure customer satisfaction and Rosecom follows tried and tested procedures to achieve this. Our project manager will prepare a clear project plan, with timescales agreed with the customer, so that there are no surprises.
The service will be thoroughly tested and users trained before active numbers are transferred (ported); this means that customers can be sure of a fully operational service with minimal disruption.
