What are SIP Trunks?
SIP Trunks are the 'next generation' replacement for ISDN or Analogue trunk lines that have been used for decades to connect telephone systems to the PSTN (public network). The concept is very simple: your numbers are ported into our data centre and re-presented onto your PABX (telephone system) across an Internet connection, then converted via a gateway to ISDN for the benefit of that phone system. Newer PABXs will accept SIP trunks directly without a gateway.
As with all Rosecom connectivity, this is directly linked to our network and systems to ensure the highest quality of service and support – we do not use standard broadband as this is almost certain to compromise quality.
What does this do for my business
?
The benefits are far reaching:
-
As numbers are no longer dependent on local copper connections or the PBX, an instant disaster recovery solution is made available. DDI calls can be re-routed on the fly to mobile phones, recovery centres or any alternative destination.
-
Multiple sites are immediately put into a 'single system' number plan and can call each other for free
-
Cost reductions - SIP trunks are considerably cheaper to rent than ISDN lines
-
Using our VRF technology, further savings can be made by converging Internet connectivity on a separate 'virtual route' to voice calls. Thus two costs - ISDN lines and Internet connections - are rolled into one.
-
Simple migration path onto the Rosecom Hosted IP PBX – all the functionality of a traditional phone system, without the risks of on site equipment and expense of ownership.
